Attend neuropsychological feedback session with family and assist with school planning based on neuropsychologist's recommendations. Maintain appropriate follow-up with schools and families to determine patients' academic performance, attendance at school, social assessment, curriculum modifications, and tutoring issues. Actively provide patient-specific education on disease-specific conditions, special education rights and laws, and general education requirements to advance knowledge base for patients, families, and school personnel. Consult on and actively participate in development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Accommodation Plans. Evaluate efficacy, appropriateness, efficiency of patient and family educational outcomes in relation to expected outcomes.Īdminister a comprehensive school-based needs assessment for each assigned patient to serve as an advocate and liaison for patient and family during school re-entry. Evaluate effectiveness of educational interventions, and alter interventions based on results.
Plan content and present in-services and training sessions to educators, students, and staff. Provide professional development opportunities and educational presentations for local school districts, universities, and other programs (i.e. Provide consultation to the patient's family, medical team, and school, ensuring that accurate, relevant, and up-to-date medical information is provided, as appropriate, to faculty and/or peers at the patient's school. Serve as education specialist for interdisciplinary medical teams etc., patients, and families. SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Perform needs-based education assessments and provide intervention and/or instructional services for pre-school, school-age, and AYA patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
